Professor Doug Brinkley was worried that his students had never seen skyscrapers made of ice. Never known a silent world. Never traveled much at all. Not even in books. He loaded 27 students into a bus and drove from Hofstra University in New York to Denali National Park, Alaska. Along the way, the library came alive.

…Cyber high-five, Bob, for your body of work. In today’s look-at-me culture that views anyone with a snowdrift-white smile and a selfie stick as authentic, your narratives carry more agency today than when they originally aired. Refreshing to watch stories not tethered to today’s exclamation-point mentalities. Each piece carries the calming tenor of a Terrence Malick-like short. Bravo and thank you.
I appreciate your kind words Jeff. They mean a lot. I’m just trying to remind folks. There’s more to this world than yelling.
Ice skyscrapers , wild animals, nights where only stars light up the sky all worth saving once experienced.
Thanks for this great story
Thanks Sher. Alaska is an amazing place. Those students learned more than they did in books.
